Trump Calls Families of Attacked Guard Personnel to the White House

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Tragic Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Vigils across the state have been held in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The president said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Response

Attendees came together over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to aid public safety in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the type of pupil that instructors desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the media. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Service details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Government Adjustments

Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and cease issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,” the governor told the crowd at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
