The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Showdown Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their first Fall Classic since the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Down by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now hit 23 total playoff homers, making him third all-time behind Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another player on planet Earth that I want up in that situation except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the one club never to appear in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their work in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we finished on the losing end of this one," he remarked.

Toronto secured the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
