Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game victorious run was ended by Sunderland prior to the international break, however can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a range of special visitors.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of several charity football games over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend soccer team," he added.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' sole away win this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

My son told me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

Fulham have got lots of quality in their team but it still feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

Their display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor streak... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
