Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.

A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation struggling with entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was accosted by three suspects, one of whom began shooting at him before running away.

The motive of the shooting has not been established and no arrests are in custody, police said.

How It Happened

Authorities revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a premises close to the Carlton Centre.

He had devoted time at the building overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, as per local media.

"The report indicates the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.

Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a security uniform opening fire on Stock before running away.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the attack.

Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were found at the crime scene.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.

"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and police have been following their trail to establish their location," added an official.

His sister, a close relative, expressed the family was struggling to process his death.

"Words fail me. I am shattered," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a voice for many people. He was a fearless commentator about topics not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a profound tragedy."
