Meteorologists are reporting a frosty commencement to the new year, with snow anticipated over large parts of the UK. Those celebrating are being urged to bundle up as bitterly cold temperatures are forecast for New Year's Eve.
Celebratory Plans Go Ahead Despite Forecasts
The Scottish capital's renowned Hogmanay events are planned to proceed, following last year's postponement. This proceeds amid weather alerts for snow across northern Scotland.
"An icy New Year's Eve night for those out celebrating, so extra layers will be needed," said the national forecaster.

As we enter Friday, advisories have been issued for Northern Ireland and stretching from Wales, across parts of the north-west, the West Midlands and all the way to London and the majority of the south-east of England.
