Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
