Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
