American performer Finn, who appeared in iconic TV shows such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to media reports.

"Pat never met a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives stated in a announcement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Television Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.

The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his family.
