Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to change things and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase like this with results this poor.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
